Qspace Fundraiser

By Rachel Rive Join Me

I'm fundraising for Wesley Mission Queensland

Hey all my name is Rachel (she, they) and I am lucky enough to be the coordinator for a vital suicide prevention program called Qspace also known as Expanded Horizons and work with a great small team of staff including wonderful volunteers. The young people aged 12-25 we work with are are creative, talented, funny, kind and deserving and I am in a very privileged position to provide them with frontline support.

QSpace is a non-profit service specifically for young people. We support gender diverse, sexually and romantically diverse, intersex and questioning young people (inclusive of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, queer, questioning, asexual, pansexual people and many more identities). The support for young people happens in the form of a weekly group program (QSpace) for 12-17 year olds as well as by providing  individual support, referrals and resources. The QPlus program is also available for 18-25 year olds and is held fortnightly. More information at www.qspace.net.au

We are collecting donations (all donations over $2 are tax deductible) to go towards things such as:

-Gender Affirming resources eg binders, bra extenders, pronoun badges

-Go cards to get to and from groups/mental health or gender affirming appointments

-Food vouchers/buying food for our group programs, couch surfing young people and community supporting other community members in their households

-Craft/activity resources for our social (building chosen family) groups, we do workshops on things such as making self care jars, succulent potting, LGBTIQAP+ card making, vision boards, pronoun embroidery badge making and much more.

-Sensory items/fidgets so that young people with invisible disabilities/anxiety/autism etc can feel comfortable at groups, take these to any appointments they may attend, use during individual support

-Postage costs for posting out resources to young people they can do at home during Covid or for those unable to access individual support on site

-Prizes for our activities to encourage participation eg LGBTIQAP+ art and poetry competition prizes (please see amazing art in the profile pic as an example of what they do)

-Mental health books such as wreck it journals, coping with depression resources, distraction activities etc

Please support my fundraising efforts and help me raise as much as I can for these amazing youth and the ones I still have yet to meet as we receive more referrals all the time. Even a few dollars is a huge help to us and will go towards frontline practical support for the local LGBTIQAP+ 12-25 community. Thank you so much!
